Two broods are produced each year with the adults flying in May and June and again in August and September. It flies at night and is attracted to light. The larva is grey brown with darker spots on the back. It feeds on the leaves of a variety of plants including dock, knotgrass, sorrel , Atriplex. The species overwinters as a larva.
This species is very similar to Timandra griseata, but the ground colour of the forewing is whitish in T. griseata, but often yellowish in T. comae; the surface of the wings is densely speckled with grey scales in T. griseata, but it is covered with brownish-grey speckles in T. comae.
