It is found in Europe, North America, Turkey, Central Asia. A smallish, sand-coloured species (females about 5mm long) with a striped carapace and five stripes down the abdomen. It occurs in in damp meadows, on sea coasts, in swamps, tussocky grassland of dunes, marshes, heathland. Overwinters as subadult-adult, so adults already occur early in the year.
