Odontomyia tigrina female · plokščiamusė ♀

  • black colonel

The medium-sized soldierfly with a more or less completely blackish body. Females tend to have a slightly paler thorax due to golden dusting and may also have tiny yellow spots at the sides of the tergites. The veins of the costal zone of the wings are especially dark. The scutellar tubercles can be pale or dark. Odontomyia tigrina larvae develop in ditches and other wet areas with plentiful emergent and floating vegetation.
