It is found in Europe, North America, Caucasus, Russia, Central Asia, China, Korea, and Japan. Pachygnatha clercki is a ground-living species usually found in wet habitats such as bogs and marshes, and on the margins of streams, rivers and lakes. Prosoma reddish yellow or brown with dark margin and median stripe. Sternum reddish brown. Chelicerae dark brown. Legs light yellow to yellow-brown. Opisthosoma mostly light yellow, folium only vague, sometimes with dark median line dorsally, mostly darker ventrally than dorsally. Body length male: 4.5-5 mm; body length female: 5.5-6 mm.
