It is found in Africa, Europe and Northern Asia (excluding China), North America, and Southern Asia. Black with yellow bands on abdomen; 1 tergite black, 3 tergites without band, possibly with a spot on each side. Scutum entirely black. Black or yellow accentuated scutellum coarsely punctate.
