Distribution: Europe, Russia (Europe to Far East), Kazakhstan, China, Japan. The species is widespread in north-western and central Europe. The spider occurs on low plants among scrub and overgrown woodland. Males reach 6‒8 mm and females 6‒10 mm in body length. The color of the carapace is yellowish-brown or red-brown. The chelicerae are reddish-brown or dark brown. The sternum is light yellowish-brown in color with darker edges. The legs are yellow or light yellowish brown. Opisthosoma has a reddish-brown top with light dots, and a yellowish-brown bottom with four rows of light dots. The surface of the opisthosome is covered with shiny hairs.
