Occurs in the whole of Europe, but not common. Can befound in warm, sunny places with low vegetation on sandy or rocky background.
Female 5‒7 mm. Abdomen brown with a white vertical median band which at the end transforms into dots. Just below the upper spot is a small cross stripe. Around the edge a border with white hairs. Carapace brown surrounded by white hairs and a white area around and underneath the anterior eyes. Legs brown with white hairs. Palps with long white hairs.
Male 4‒5 mm. Abdomen same as female, but the small cross stripe is not always present. Carapace black surrounded by a thin white band and bright red hair around the anterior eyes and white hairs on the top of the chelicerae. Legs dark brown with white hairs. Palps dark brown to black with white hairs on the median limbs.
