Distribution: Europe, Turkey, Caucasus, Russia (Europe to Middle and South Siberia), Central Asia, China. Common in the whole of Europe. Mainly found on low plants in moist areas and along riverbanks but also in drier areas.
Female 5‒8.5 mm. Abdomen rather elongated in comparison with other species. Colour brown with a beige to light brown triangular spot at the front, beige to light brown horizontal stripes behind and beige to light brown band around. Carapace light brown with broad pale median band containing a slightly darker whitish outlined triangle which rearwardly ends in a point. Next to the median band are two dark marbled longitudinal bands. Legs and palps light brown with dark spots.
Male 3‒4 mm. Markings almost identical to the female, but much darker in colour. Femora and patellae of pair of legs I and II black.
