A large (10 - 12 mm), clear-winged Rhagio species most resembling the common R. tringarius but with the top of the thorax greyish (humeri yellowish in tringarius) and the palps dark (orange in tringarius). The hairs on the tergites are mostly pale (black in tringarius).
