The larva feeds under the bark of various conifers (mainly spruce and fir) and pupates in a shallow pupal cell below the wood surface. The life cycle is 1-2 years. Adults occur from May to August, with peak in the late June. A common visitor of the blossoming forest flora (Apiaceae, Aruncus sylvestris, Filipendula etc.). Body length 4 - 7 mm.
