As a popular ornamental used in landscaping its notable features include the red stems in fall (autumn) through late winter, bright winter bark. C. alba can grow to 3 m high. The oval fruits are white, sometimes tinted blue. The plant is extremely hardy.

Aukštis 1-4 m. Šakos ilgos, rausvos arba bordinės spalvos, nusdriekusios iki pat žemės. Lapai elipsiški arba ovalūs 4-8 cm ilgio, kraštai užlenkti. Lapai rudenį paraudonuoja. Vaisiai – nedidelės baltos arba šviesiai mėlynos uogos.
