A Eurosiberian Boreo-temperate species found across Europe except the south, and eastwards into west Siberia. Body length 5-7mm; yellowish-bronze reflecting elytra. Lives in scraw, fen and poor fen habitats, densely vegetated lakeshores and riverbanks. Agonum piceum is usually nocturnal and lives as a predator.
