It is found in Europe, North Africa, Turkey, Caucasus, Russia (Europe to South Siberia), Middle East, Kazakhstan, Central Asia, China. They live on grass and herbs near the ground, mostly in warm, sunny localities; prefers humid areas.
Female 5.5-6.0 mm, male 3.0-3.5 mm. Prosoma light greenish, with black margin and median stripe. Sternum almost black. Legs yellowish. Tibia III with two rows of plumose trichobothria. Opisthosoma whitish yellow, rarely greenish, posteriorly with "Cricket Bat" marking consisting of 3 rows of black spots followed by longitudinal stripes, remaining pattern irregular, mostly consisting of longitudinal stripes. Ventrally black with 2 pairs of large, yellow spots.
