The species is widespread in central and southern Europe. Female 4.5-5.0 mm, male 3.5-4.5 mm. The cephalothorax and abdomen are black with a metallic, copper-gold (female) or pinkish (male) sheen, without any visible pattern; only the front edge of the abdomen with an arcuate strip of light hairs. Adults can be found from June to July in low vegetation and on shrubbery, always near water, up to 2100 m in the Alps.
