The species is widely cultivated in other regions and has become naturalized in North America New Zealand and Australia.
Medžio aukštis 15-32 m. Lapai 7-14 cm ilgio, šviesesni nei vyšnios. Gausiai žydi pavasarį. Vaisiai 1-2 cm skersmens, šviesesni ir minkštesni negu vyšnios. Juos dažnai nulesa paukščiai arba išgraužia vapsvos.
