https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthilia The plant has a circumboreal distribution, growing throughout much of the Northern Hemisphere. Orthilia secunda is a mixotroph. It obtains about one half of its carbon from mycorrhizal networks. Mycorrhizal fungi obtain carbon through the roots of nearby trees. Orthilia then obtains the carbon from the fungi through its roots. No counterflow of nutrients has been observed.

Užgina (Orthilia) – erikinių (Ericaceae) šeimos augalų gentis, kurioje vienintelė Lietuvoje dažnai auganti rūšis – vienašalė užgina (Orthilia secunda). Tai iki 25 cm aukščio krūmokšnis su labai išsišakojusiu šakniastiebiu. Lapai visžaliai, augantys pamate. Žiedai sutelkti gausiažiedėje kekėje. Žiedynstiebis 10-15 cm. Žydi birželio – liepos mėn. Auga šviesiuose spygliuočių miškuose.
