It is found from Spain, north to Fennoscandia, east to the Baltic region, south to Italy and Bulgaria and has also been recorded from the Near East. Smooth, brown, tubular silken cas. The trivalved case has a sharp bend just behind the mouth. Length 6-8 mm. Generally this species lives in the Tanacetum vulgare inflorescence, feeding om the flowers; rarely however it behaves as a leafminer.
